Respected Minister,

Based on what we know about the current status of Nalanda University Project which was once envisioned by former president of India late Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, we would like to bring following to you notice:

In 2013 Nalanda University Act amendment bill was first introduced in Parliament, but it was referred to the Standing Committee on External Affairs by Upper house (Rajya Sabha). The parliamentary panel had pointed out to many flaws in the bill including that the seats in the governing board should not go to highest bidders among Asean countries. Recommendations were accepted by government – but it has not been tabled in parliament, so far.

This delay is putting future of Nalanda University and promise of country at the East Asia Summit, “an intellectual resource for the entire continent” at risk and Its becoming an international embarrassment.

Given the prestige and promise of nation associated with Nalanda University project, we would like you to intervene on this matter.

We sincerely thank you for your kind attention

Warm Regards,
