Way forward for Nalanda University Project, non-resident's view

Nalanda International University project was brainchild of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam and envision goes back to his address to the Bihar Legislative Assembly on March 28, 2006. It has been a hope and matter of pride for all the non-residents Biharis scattered across the Globe.

Since initiation, there have been controversies and heartbreak for all enthusiasts, we have felt sad, frustrated and often feeling of another bad luck Bihar. While we cannot change past, we can certainly try and campaign for better future.

One of the bottlenecks in bringing International participation in Nalanda University revival project can be attributed to flaws in Nalanda University Act. It has been pointed out many times by international interests and specifically by Mr George Yeo. Worth mentioning, Mr Yeo is Former Foreign Minister of Singapore and has been involved selflessly in this project since inception.

Having Bihar so close to our heart, we must contribute towards this cause by highlighting this to government of India, Ministry of external affairs and others. Revival of Nalanda University was a promise made by Government of India at the East Asia Summit and it’s an issue of national prestige.

Passage of Nalanda University Act Amendment Bill (Which has been agreed by respective Governments in Delhi but pending before Parliament since 2013) is key for making Nalanda what Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam envisioned a global intellectual resource.

Though it’s just one of the bottlenecks for this project and  there are many other issue that need to be addressed. But to start with, we request everyone to sign following online petition to support this cause:

We would also like to request all forms, organizations to explore ways to bring this to the attention of Government.

Our campaign and all activities are non-political in nature, we are working professionals and enthusiast about our motherland and Bihar. All of us might be having different believe or political thoughts but there is something common among all of us and its desire for better Bihar, respect for Biharis. This common desire provides us much needed bonding to work together. We request everyone to just us with similar spirit.
